Red brass for film and concrete basins is a popular material used for the construction of swimming pools, preferably bronze. The reason to process gunmetal is that, in addition to copper and tin, this also contains zinc as the alloying constituent. Bronze, however, only contains copper and tin. As a result, gunmetal for film and concrete basins is not only resistant even in cold seawater, but is characterized above all by enormous dimensional stability and an extremely long service life. In the case of gunmetal, it is a copper-based alloy which is more specific than conventional bronze and is, as already mentioned, far more resistant to life.
Why pool fittings made of gunmetal for film and concrete pools?
Red cast iron offers an optimal connection and adhesion, especially for the construction of a concrete basin, which in turn ensures ideal safety within the first construction phase of a concrete basin. This aspect is certainly very interesting for the hobbyist who wants to build a pool in his own capacity. But also for cast iron tanks, gunmetal is particularly suitable because of the extremely dimensioned and very stable flange surfaces of the respective mounting parts. The fittings, which are visible in a film or concrete basin, mostly consist of gunmetal, floor drains, inlet and bottom inlet nozzles, some skimmers, but also diaphragms. Especially the blends of gunmetal for foil and concrete basins are obtained by the additional coating of tin and nickel an attractive stainless steel optics, which embellishes the overall picture many times. In contrast to bronze, which is mainly used for seawater or sobbing, one often finds red brass in all swimming pools with drinking water supply.
