The Pond Technik drum filter has a very good price / performance ratio, has an integrated emergency overflow, so the feed pumps cannot run dry. The filter fabric of the Pond Technik drum filter is made of stainless steel, which means that it can be cleaned with a high-pressure cleaner. Guaranteed high pond water circulation rates thanks to a low-lying filter drum, which results in a very high effective filter surface. The Pond Technik drum filter can inspect the dirt channel or inside of the drum, where you can remove fish, toads, etc. without any further measures if necessary. The operator can easily change the stainless steel filter cloth and it only takes about 15 minutes. With the Pond Technik drum filter there are no additional costs such as at the fleece filter. The Pond Technik drum filter is not a mix of materials, everything is made entirely of stainless steel, which means that twisting is not possible.

Function Pond technology drum filter
The pond water to be filtered from the floor drains and skimmer is fed directly into the drum filter inlet, or initially feeds a separate collection chamber. From there, the pond water is carried into the interior of the filter drum and flows through the sieve element of the filter drum from the inside to the outside. Due to the retention of the finest suspended matter such as excrement, algae, leaves, etc., the flow rate on the filter fabric is reduced. The consequence of this is a rise in the pond water level in the filter drum. As soon as a defined pond water level is reached, the automatic cleaning of the filter cloth begins. To do this, the filter drum rotates and at the same time the centrifugal pump generates a flat jet on the cleaning nozzles, which loosens the deposits on the filter cloth. The dirt cake from the drum filter screen is flushed directly into the dirt channel inside the filter drum. The polluted pond water can then be discharged directly into the sewer. If the necessary gradient is not available, it can also be removed from a collecting basin with a waste water pump. As a rule, the pond water previously cleaned by the Pond Technik drum filter is used as rinsing water. The drum filter systems are preferably operated as gravity filters.
Experience with drum filter system
Experience in recent years has shown that very few customers plan their first koi pond system with a drum filter that only cleans mechanically. Why is this the case? As a rule it fails because of the money, possibly because of the fear of the drum filter technology or, through hearsay, because of the high consumption of pond water. If you take a closer look at the matter, the price is very quickly put into perspective. The conventional system works without a doubt. Anyone who has been allowed to clean several filter brushes a week in any weather or clean their Vortex regularly knows what we're talking about. Some say, I'll make a cartridge filter. But even he will soon realize that this pond filter also needs appropriate care, because the dirt that accumulates from the filter basin of the cartridges has to be removed again. The more dirt in the system, the more dirt can go into the solution.
It looks different with the drum filter. Here the drum removes the dirt from the filter system. Do you drive e.g. a drum filter system at a koi pond with a large number of koi, you will find that it switches on more frequently than usual after the koi has been fed. Here the excretions from the koi are immediately removed from the pond water cycle. Nothing can be solved anymore. The nutrients are automatically removed from the low pond plants and fewer algae form in the koi pond. A possible ozone system or other koi pond additional units are no longer necessary.
Pond water consumption drum filter
We were able to carry out some tests with different products, such as Solution. Here we found that the pond water consumption was many times higher than with a drum filter system. Veterinarians even recommend changing the pond water by at least 20% of the pond volume every month. You cannot achieve this value with our drum filter system.
The decisive advantage of the Pond Technik drum filter is that everything runs fully automatically. A visual inspection of the storage and sealing of the drum filter system is usually carried out every 6 months. You can go on vacation without hesitation. Pond Technik drum filter versions
The Pond Technik drum filters are available in 3 different sizes for very different flow rates.
The flow rate is extremely dependent on the screen covering and the degree of soiling. If 20 µm is used here, the flow rates given above must be reduced by approx. 50%. When using approx. 40 µm, the circulation volume should be reduced by approx. 20%. If, on the other hand, an 80 µm filter sieve is used, you can increase the flow rate by approx. 20%. The normal underlying degree of pollution is 10 mg / liter; if pollution degrees of 25 mg / liter, i.e. heavily polluted pond water, are reached, the specified flow rate must be reduced by approx. 20%.
Experience over the last few years has shown that a covering of approx. 40 µm is the optimum. After the koi pond filter system has been run in with the existing koi pond, the flushing interval slows down noticeably.
Pond Technik drum filter control
The dirt particles in the pond water settle inside the filter drum. The fine sediments slowly clog the filter fabric. This means that the inflowing pond water cannot flow out of the filter drum quickly enough. A sensor, external at the filter outlet, controls a freely definable pond water level in the clean filter room. If the pond water level falls below the specified point, the Pond Technik drum filter control automatically sets the drum in rotation through the direct drive. At the same time, a multistage centrifugal pump is switched on and pond water is pumped into the flushing bar to rinse out the drum filter. The flushing process then lasts until the level has returned to the previous value. The high spray pressure even detaches the biofilm and has no chance of building up and clogging the filter fabric.

The connections are designed for alternating current 220/230 volts. Optionally, the Pond Technik drum filter can also be supplied in a high-voltage version.
Pond Technik drum filter control cabinet
The heart of every drum filter system is the control cabinet.
The Pond Technik drum filter switch cabinet is made of metal and has been powder coated. Only components from well-known German manufacturers are used. For your and our safety, the Pond Technik drum filter control cabinets are tested according to VDE 0113 / EN 60204. The Pond Technik drum filters are standard with a few extras, such as Individual flushing time limitation so that the drum filter cannot go into continuous flushing. On request, PLC controls from Klöckner Möller can also be used.
