Pool algae prevention and flocculation

Pool algae prevention and flocculation

Algae

are plant microorganisms that produce undesirable organic substances, which are also a perfect breeding ground for fungi and bacteria. For this reason, algae growth should be prevented. Normal disinfectants alone are generally not sufficient for this. Algae can also be immune to chlorine, because chlorine can no longer break through the protective shell of larger algae colonies. Prevention is better than cure. A timely preventive measure disrupts the metabolic processes of the algae. It dies or growth is slowed down. All algaecides have been optimised for use in swimming pools through years of development in the laboratory and in practice. They have a broad-spectrum effect against all types of algae. The concentration of the algaecides is so high that even low doses provide reliable protection.

Flocculation

The sand filter cannot filter out small suspended particles in the micron range, which leads to a milky turbidity of the water. Flocculation causes these particles to clump together so that they can be captured by the filter again and removed during the rinse cycle. The flocculation also supports the effect of the disinfectant used.
