Utsurimono
Utsurimono - a short-form carp with harmonious colouring
The Utsurimono belongs to the Nishigoi variety (short-form carp and colour carp) and the translation of its name, "harmony variety", refers to the harmonious colour balance that characterises an Utsurimono. The origin of this species comes from an older Asagi breeding line, which contains all the necessary characteristics. The basic colour black with red, yellow and white spots is the typical colouring of an Utsurimono and should ideally be evenly and harmoniously distributed over the entire body. Sumi stripes, which are characteristically significant for a koi, should only appear on the pectoral fins and not elsewhere.
The visual metamorphosis of the Utsurimono
The optical metamorphosis of the Utsurimono genus is the essential characteristic. Hereditary factors, but also certain environmental influences, lead to the shifting of the spots and thus to the constant formation of new patterns that change the appearance of the respective Utsurimono koi. This "magical" characteristic emphasises the individuality and popularity of this koi family. The classification into four sub-variants is based on certain distinguishing factors regarding the arrangement of the colours and their intensity. The specimens that you will find in our Koi online shop are enormously versatile and varied due to their interesting colour differences and are guaranteed to make your decision difficult.
