Kawarimono
Kawarimono - a koi group in its own right
Strictly speaking, the name Kawarimono stands for an entire collective group and is assigned to the colour carp and the short-form koi. This collective group is constantly expanding through further crosses of breeding forms and also belongs to the non-metallic koi. The Kawarimono are characterised above all by clear and pure patterns and colours and are now divided into many different subspecies, such as the Nanashigoi and Shiru Utsuri. Despite their non-metallic colouring, however, the Kawarimono do not have to hide behind other koi, as they are judged at exhibitions just like all the others and easily reach the top places.
A collection group that requires a lot of expertise
As the Kawarimono collection group is constantly expanding with new crosses, breeding is difficult. Beginners in particular, who have little experience with koi and their subspecies, can hardly recognise the pattern variant in young animals. Only a trained eye from an expert can tell with a high degree of probability which subfamily of the Kawarimono it is, as the patterns and colour markings of young animals are often not yet pronounced and therefore difficult to define. Nevertheless, the Kawarimono are very popular. That's why you'll find some of them here in our range, which we have ready for you. We, BB Handel, will be happy to provide you with further information about the Kawarimono and its characteristics.
