Goshiki
Goshiki - the diverse koi
Experts who specialise in koi carp know that these fish are certainly by far the most diverse and colourful fish in the world. Each species belongs to a family, so to speak. They are divided into numerous subspecies, one of which is the Goshiki. Goshiki means "the five-coloured one" and its origin is still not entirely clear. Its name refers to five colours, namely black, red, white, light blue and dark blue. It is rumoured that the best-known Goshiki was created by crossing the Asagi and the Taishi Sanshoku. However, it takes a trained eye to tell the dark colours apart.
Goshiki - meaning and division into two groups
In specialist circles, the goshiki is divided into two groups, which have also been assigned different meanings: the so-called kuro goshiki with power and strength, and the light-coloured shiro goshiki with elegance. The Goshiki Sanke also belongs to this family. The fact is, however, that the Goshiki, regardless of the variant, is now being shown as a separate class at exhibitions. We at BB Handel recognise the importance and value of this subspecies and have therefore put together a selection of truly magnificent specimens for you in our Koi Online Shop. Our koi carp are of course all kept in a species-appropriate and gentle manner and transported accordingly.
