Doitsu - a special kind of koi carp
Koi carp experts know that there are numerous different species, which differ mainly in their colouring and also in their history. The origin, the magnificent colours, but also the nature and many other positive characteristics distinguish these special fish and give them a great attraction. The koi carp from the Doitsu genus is one of them. It is a virtually scaleless koi, apart from a few large scales on the back or sometimes in the centre of the sides. The resulting extremely smooth skin is a key characteristic that makes the doitsu extremely interesting.

The origin of the name Doitsu is also very remarkable. Doitsu literally means "German" and was derived from German mirror carp, which were imported to Japan around 100 years ago to be crossed with Japanese koi carp. Doitsu are now a popular type of koi carp that can be found in many ponds and often serve as the basis for different breeds.
